Have you been denied for a checking or savings account, had a bank unexpectedly close your account, or been told that you are unable to open a new bank account?

Your traditional credit report may not be the reason.

Banks and credit unions may use consumer reporting agencies such as ChexSystems and Early Warning Services (EWS) to help evaluate potential customers and identify previous banking activity.

What Is ChexSystems?

ChexSystems is a consumer reporting agency that collects and reports certain information related to your history with banks and credit unions.

Unlike Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion, which primarily maintain traditional credit information, ChexSystems focuses heavily on your banking history.

Information reported to ChexSystems may include:

  • Checking or savings accounts that were closed by a financial institution
  • Unpaid negative account balances
  • Overdraft-related account closures
  • Returned or unpaid checks
  • Suspected fraudulent activity or account misuse
  • Applications or inquiries for bank accounts
  • Other negative banking information reported by participating financial institutions

If negative information appears on your ChexSystems report, a bank or credit union reviewing the report may consider that information when deciding whether to open an account for you.

What Is Early Warning Services (EWS)?

Early Warning Services is another consumer reporting company used by many financial institutions to evaluate banking activity and potential account risk.

An Early Warning consumer report may contain information related to your previous or existing deposit accounts, account status, account ownership, transactions, and other banking activity reported by participating financial institutions.

Depending on the information reported, EWS may affect a financial institution's decision when you attempt to establish a new banking relationship.

Why Would Someone Be Reported to ChexSystems or Early Warning?

There are several reasons banking information may appear in these consumer reporting systems.

For example, a previous bank may have reported an account that was closed with a negative balance, repeated overdrafts, returned transactions, suspected account misuse, or other account-related activity.

In some situations, the consumer recognizes the account but believes some of the information being reported is incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or otherwise inaccurate.

In other situations, the consumer may not recognize the account or activity at all.

This is why obtaining and reviewing your consumer banking reports can be an important step when you are experiencing repeated problems opening a bank account.

Who Is This Service For?

This service may be appropriate for you if:

  • You have recently been denied a checking or savings account.
  • Banks continue declining your applications and you do not understand why.
  • A previous bank closed your account and reported negative information.
  • You have negative information appearing on your ChexSystems or Early Warning report.
  • You believe information appearing on your banking consumer report is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • You do not recognize an account or certain information being reported.
  • You want assistance reviewing and disputing information you believe should be investigated.

What Does the $150 Service Include?

Your $150 ChexSystems & Early Warning Services Dispute Service includes two dispute rounds.

Round One — Initial Review & Dispute

We review the applicable consumer report and information you provide to identify the items you believe are inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise appropriate for investigation.

The first dispute round is then prepared and sent to the appropriate consumer reporting agency and/or applicable information furnisher based on your individual circumstances.

Round Two — Follow-Up Dispute

After the first dispute round, available investigation results and updated information are reviewed.

When appropriate, a second dispute round is prepared to address qualifying unresolved issues, updated reporting, or information that may require additional investigation.

Two rounds do not necessarily mean that every item will be disputed twice. Each round is based on the information available and the circumstances of your individual report.

What Happens After the Dispute Process?

ChexSystems, Early Warning Services, and the financial institutions furnishing information are responsible for conducting their own investigations and determining the outcome.

Depending on the investigation, information may be verified, corrected, updated, or removed.

DesireGoodCredit LLC does not control the investigation or guarantee deletion of any account or information.

We also cannot guarantee that a particular bank or credit union will approve you for a new account following the dispute process. Each financial institution maintains its own account-opening requirements and makes its own approval decisions.

Important Information
